My name is Makayla, I am 24 years old & I'm the creator/owner of Lain Candle Company. I’m from Buffalo, NY and I have two children.

When COVID first started, I was pregnant with our now three-year-old. She is also the inspiration for our company name. As scary as COVID was, it also made me come to the realization that the cleaning products that we have been using for years, may have been good for their obvious use but they were not good for the air in our home or for our bodies. I started weeding out all of the toxic cleaning products and replacing them with better alternatives. I even was making our own laundry detergent for a bit.

After that, I found that the candles we use were not good for us either. Like everyone else, we only had Bath & Body Works candles for the longest time. I did my research and found that most of them contain paraffin wax and other chemicals that we should not be inhaling. Especially that black soot that would be left on the walls, it was gross to realize that we were also breathing all of that in.

In December of 2021, I decided to start making my own candles. Not to sell, just for our own use in our home. I found that soy wax was a good option because it didn't contain any of those chemicals that paraffin wax does, and I also found non-toxic fragrance oils that would work perfect. A couple of months go by and in February 2022 my boyfriend had convinced me to open up my own online shop and sell my candles.

My mission is to help others make the switch to all natural candles to better the air quality in their home, while having the best smelling home with scents from Lain Candle Co.
